About the Event

Rarely can the spirit of the Middle Ages be so potently felt as in the Umbrian hill town of Assisi. A holy city for Christians, Assisi is an eternal destination for pilgrims wanting to see the places where Saint Francis was born, where he worked, and where he died. Many of the most important and beautiful of Umbria's incomparable patrimony of paintings and architecture are found in Assisi.  The great Giottesque cycle at Assisi stands at the beginning of the modern era of art and the Basilica of St. Francis has been defined as an extraordinary example of an architectonic complex that has heavily influenced the development of art and architecture.
