About the Event
Leonardo da Vinci, born in 1452 near Florence, demonstrated exceptional talent and intellectual curiosity from an early age. At 14, he was apprenticed to Andrea del Verrocchio, a leading artist in Florence, where he quickly emerged as a distinctive talent. His early work reflects a sophisticated grasp of anatomy, light, and perspective, as seen in pieces like The Annunciation and Ginevra de' Benci. Leonardo’s formative years in Florence were instrumental in developing the artistic and intellectual foundations that would later establish him as a pivotal figure in the Renaissance. Join art historian Elaine Ruffolo for a look at the making of a Renaissance genius.
