About the Event

Acquired in 1550, the opulent Pitti Palace was selected by Cosimo I de’ Medici and his wife, Eleanor of Toledo, as the new Grand Ducal residence, quickly becoming the emblem of Medici dominance over Tuscany. This grandiose structure not only signified the Medici's power but also later accommodated the courts of two other prominent dynasties: the House of Habsburg-Lorraine, which succeeded the Medici from 1737, and the House of Savoy, the Kings of Italy who took residence in 1865. Today, the Pitti Palace is a treasure trove of art and history, divided into various sections including the illustrious Palatine Gallery, the Treasury of the Grand Dukes, and the enchanting Boboli Gardens. Join art historian Elaine Ruffolo for an immersive virtual tour of the Pitti Palace, where she will spotlight an array of painting masterpieces, delve into the extraordinary objets d'art, and guide you through the verdant splendor of the Boboli…
